Chapter 1
She woke up to the ticklish sensation of something moving across her tail. She slowly opened one brilliant eye, which was, at one angle, a tantalizingly red ruby, at another, a dazzling emerald, a deep blue sapphire, and other precious and semi-precious stones which composed the hoard that ethics required her to keep, but she was not particularly fond of. Sighing inwardly, she thought "Every time.Take a nap for a decade or so, and villagers just throw caution to the wind!" She then started to twitch, so as not to give some curious doe or rabbit a heart attack. She preferred her meals obtained honourably.
She began her wake-up routine: a tremor of the tail, a shrug of the shoulders, a twist of the talons, a wave of the wings. Opening the other eye, she started blinking rapidly, ridding them of any build-up. She yawned and crawled out of the cave. Loping over to a cliff, she flexed her massive wings, then leapt. After two powerful strokes, she hit an air current, and was on her way to the library.

Chapter 2
"Ah, there she is! Eila of the Wing, Mistress of the Sky, She of the Heart of Flame, the dragon whose scales shall never dull!"
Identifying the source of the endearments, Eila(for she was indeed Eila of the Wing, et cetera) smiled coyly, then rose above the clouds.
In the center of a large grassy field, Ignatius shielded his pale grey eyes, and scanned the skies as best he could when facing the sun. upon hearing a loud thud behind him, he jumped up and whirled around. "Not a word," growled Eila."One- because you cannot see it, does not mean it's gone. Two- the titles are for special occasions only. Three- for a centaur, you scare like a rabbit."
"Hmph!" He flicked his tail and snorted in indignation.
The vivid purple dragon stretched out around the clearing to sun herself and slid down the thin mucous membranes of her inner eyelids. "Iggy, trot for me."
"Why?"
"Because I want to see if all you've done is sit and read while I've been asleep."
"And why should I?" the centaur questioned defiantly, placing his hands at the joint where the human torso met the body of a blue roan stallion.
"Now, is it wise to be argumentative with a creature two times as tall, five times as long, and eight times as vicious as you?" Sighing, Iggy started to trot in a circle. "Thank you. Turn and take this at a canter." She held the tip of her tail approximately three feet from the ground.
Eila continued to drill him for the better part of the afternoon. Then, when she was satisfied, she rose, spread her wings, and jumped into the air. Circling the field, she called out, "Now, off to the place where you should be."
After giving her a blank stare, Ignatius abruptly stamped his hooves, cried out "By the gods!" and took off into the thick woods at a gallop. Muttering to herself, she darted down and snatched up the loudly protesting centaur in her front claws.
"I can fly faster that you can run," Eila roared above her unwilling passenger's curses,"And I can bloody well do it without breaking my blasted neck!"
